Borrowing Entitlements

I have overheard a conversation amongst some part time lecturers who were not sure as to how much they could borrow from the library. Below are the library entitlements for different categories of library users.

New Librarian at CCE North

I am happy to inform you that we have a new member of staff, Mr Moeti Kuchwe, who joins us as a librarian. His arrival means that we definitely have more staff to ensure that your information needs are met. He will also be part of a team that will teach the information skills courses to both diploma & degree students.

I take it that by now you have already borrowed a book, used one of our computers, asked a question at the information desk, searched the catalogue, used the study area or even used the library photocopier.We want to know your impression of the CCE North library, please let us here from you.

Live chat with librarian

It seems like this past semester very few of you used the live chat service with your librarian. I however want to encourage all of you to make use of this facility as it can take care of some of your reference queries & any other information queries you may want to clarify. Live chat is available from 3-5 pm Monday -Friday. Please register for instant messaging with yahoo and chat with your librarian. Library hours extended over exam period

The CCE North library offer extended access over the next two weeks. However,this only affects weekends and here are the library hours for the coming two weekends.

7 May 2011- 8th May 2011: 10 a.m-4 p.m
14th May 2011-15th May 2011: 10 a.m-4 p.m

Library Clearance

I know some of you have forgotten that you are expected to clear with the library at the end of the academic year, and as such, you are expected to return all library materials. I know you are all busy preparing for your exams, but please find time to clear with the library. You are further advised to pay your overdue fines. If you do not know how much you are owing, come to the library and we will assist you. All payments should however be made at the Accounts office.

Business Degree Programmes by Distance mode

This goes to all of you DABS completing students. As you are aware, the following distance degrees are available by distance mode:

Bachelor of Accountancy (BACC)

Bachelor of Finance (BFIN)

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Marketing)

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Management)

Referencing made easy

Do you still have problems referencing your work? Do not worry, referencing is just as easy as pie. Just visit the library and we will assist you. We have also prepared a simplified APA manual to guide you, and you should find it helpful. A special invitation is made to all MGT 302 students who are working on their research proposals. Find here the latest online manual of the APA citation style. This is 6th edition.

CCE North Short Courses

Are you currently employed as a receptionists? Are you aware of what constitutes proper phone skills and telephone etiquette? An oportunity is here for you to attend one of CCE North short courses, dial-a-smile, which mainly targets receptionists and switch board operators. The course will run for 3 days, from March 1-3. Orientation Month

If you have missed out on all library orientation sessions in the first semester, here is an opportunity for you to be orientated. January 2011 will be orientation month. Library orientation sessions will be offered every Friday, and there will be a morning and afternoon session. Morning sessions will be @ 9 a.m while afternoon sessions will be at 3 p.m. As such, these sessions will be on the 14th, 21st, & 28th. Make sure you do not miss this time!
